Temporary reprieve confirmed

I am grateful for this news. This morning, my lawyer again asked the city to sit down with us and work something out. I really hope this can happen.

Ms. Rogier,

Please be advised that I have spoken with Lori Scolaro and Andrea Macdonald at HRM Animal Control. The euthanization of your dog Brindi has been postponed until your present Court action is decided, and if necessary, any appeal routes have been exhausted. Of course, if the Supreme Court does order the dog not to be euthanized, the matter will be re-evaluated at that time.

Sincerely, Scott Hughes

I am posting this picture not as a sign of victory, because a reprieve is simply a reprieve - the order still stands. So let this be very small gesture of hope and love.

  2. Kudos to you for fighting and kudos to you for admitting that you have made some mistakes as an Owner.

    Who hasn`t made mistakes?
Admitting your mistakes is a sign of a responsible owner in progress.

Many Owners don`t admit to mistakes and THAT is the sign of an irresponsible Owner.

Are you being allowed to visit with Brindi?

  3. I used to work for Animal Control and I know from my own experiences that HRM is not the most trustworthy at times. You should be aware of your dog's status at all times! Unfortunately because your dog has a history of "aggression" the outcome is not in your favor. I sincerely hope that this works out for you and that you prove to be a responsible owner even if that means muzzling your dog and fencing her in. Sometimes these sacrifices need to be made. If you do get a second chance, then take it seriously , HRM will not mess around and there would be no reprieves if you as so much as step outside your door without a leash. Too many dogowners take the bylaws very lightly and even law abiding ones sometimes cannot win against HRM(again not exactly the most trustworthy group).I have seen both sides of this argument. It is a difficult situation for owners and Animal Control officers.
    Good Luck!
    A dog lover
