  • Please be sure to give them your location, and ask for a reply. 
  • Follow up a week later until you get a reply and then keep writing...! 
  • Don't let them dismiss it by saying things like, "It's before the courts." Point out things like... 
  • Elected officials are accountable to their constituents. 
  • Elected officials make laws, must amend laws that don't work or are abused by those entrusted to enforce them. They are directly involved and accountable.
  • Send photos of Brindi with them if you can (download from the blog or Save Brindi).
  • Phone calls and regular mail or postcards are very powerful if you are able to send them.
  • Avoid using Brindi in the subject line of emails, especially to city officials.

Contacting individuals directly and often brings better results than petitions. Several petitions have been done - the last total was 10,000 signatures. The city ignored them, the trial judge accepted them but did not record as submitted. 
Local petitions, over 4oo handwritten signatures in 2009, presented to HRM regional council in person, but also ignored.
